YORK City and the newly-formed Supporters' Trust have been handed a record cash boost.

The fourth round FA Cup clash against Fulham at Bootham Crescent pulled in record gross receipts of around £73,000 from the 7,653-strong crowd.

The figure is almost £10,000 more than the club's previous record of £63,680 which the Minstermen raked in from their Coca Cola Cup second round, second leg tie against Manchester United in October 1995.

The FA takes ten per cent of all Cup receipts with the remaining 90 per cent shared out equally between the two sides.

That means with Fulham chairman Mohammed Al Fayed vowing to hand his club's share to the Supporters Trust, the fans' body stands to bank a windfall of around £30,000.

The City club will get the remainder, minus the FA's cut and security and other costs.

The Trust is also set to bank another £2,000 from their Fulham counterparts.

As reported in the Evening Press, the Cottagers' Supporters' Club staged a bucket collection at their match with Aston Villa on Saturday in aid of the Save City fund.

More than £1,700 was raised through the collection and the Fulham Supporters' Club have agreed to top up the final figure to £2,000.
