COMA, from the new school of York bands brought up on punk and classic rock, have won Round One, Heat Eight of the Fibbers/Evening Press Battle of the Bands 2002.
The Dregs, from Leeds, finished as runners-up in a heat that also featured York group Still Reno and Plaecene, from Whitby, at Fibbers, in Stonebow, York.
Bands definitely through to Round Two are Peachie, Manydown, Fadge, Busride, Morgan Four, Syncrownized, Sevenball, Fine Lines and Coma.
