IT is some months now since I inquired through your newspaper about the veracity of the 'crackdown' by our city's boys in blue on the population of lawless cyclists that daily terrorise motorists and pedestrians alike, with marked impunity.
I have looked diligently in the court reports for a sighting of a single prosecution but alas - nothing.
Can it be that they have stopped red-light hopping?
Is it true that they no longer dismount at red lights, walk round, re-mount and cycle on?
Could it be that there are no one-way streets left in York and that cyclists riding against a 100 per cent opposite flow are just, erm, unlucky?
Or is it that the police have several hundred ongoing prosecutions awaiting their turn at York Magistrates Court?
Oh, I nearly forgot; three ex-Huby pigs have passed out with their wings at RAF Linton-on-Ouse and are currently doing their formation flying course at Zurich Insurance.
