DAVID Kenworthy is to retire as Chief Constable of North Yorkshire later this year.

Mr Kenworthy said he had originally been appointed for five years, and although the Police Authority had offered him an additional two years, he had always intended to retire at the end of his appointment.

"Being the Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police has been a privilege and I will leave with many happy memories."
