DARRYLL Holland will be making doubly sure that he rides my Nap selection Island House all the way to the line in tomorrow's Huxley Stakes at Chester.

Twelve months ago horse and jockey appeared to have this race in the bag, but Holland made the error of stopping riding just short of the finishing post and was pipped in the last stride by Kieren Fallon on Adilabad. The mistake cost Holland a 14-day ban.

Island House has an excellent chance of gaining his just reward in tomorrow's £25,000 Listed race.

Geoff Wragg's high class colt was beaten only a head by Indian Creek in the Earl of Sefton Stakes at Newmarket last month.

The benefit of that outing should be there for all to see tomorrow when Holland will be at pains to get Island House home in front - if only to set the record straight.

Playapart will be difficult to beat in the Philip Leverhulme Dee Stakes.

Gerard Butler's three-year-old made a triumphant return to action at Newmarket last month when winning the hotly contested Fielden Stakes over nine furlongs.

Tomorrow's slightly longer distance should suit Playapart even better.

The Betfair.com Ormonde Stakes has £75,000 in prize money and is the richest race of the day.

Success in this Group 3 affair would be extra sweet for Mark Brisbourne, a middle-of-the-road trainer who has brought Hannibal Lad up through the ranks from modest handicap beginnings.

Hannibal Lad ran out a 20-1 winner when beating a high class field at Nottingham last time and certainly deserves his place in this distinguished line-up.

George Baker again has the mount on Hannibal Lad, who will get the biggest cheer of the afternoon if his rags-to-riches story reaches new heights.

Brisborne has another fancied runner in Octane, who goes for the Pochins Handicap.

It looks significant that champion jockey Kieren Fallon has been booked to ride the gelding, who gave notice of a return to form when finishing sixth at Haydock last time out.

The speedy Bali Royal (1.55) and the promising Ivania (4.25) are two others to note on the final day of Chester's May Festival.

Tomorrow's only other meeting is a jumps fixture at Southwell, where Northern Tennessee (4.10) catches my eye.

Trainer Brendan Powell produced this seven-year-old to win at Market Rasen 12 days ago and was of the opinion afterwards that he was capable of going on to better things. Champion jockey Tony McCoy is booked for the mount on Northern Tennessee.
