NO team has yet to claim maximum points in the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League.

Sean Hunter led York to the top of division one with a good all-round performance against the Post Office following up a century with fpur wickets.

The Postmen had a second-wicket partnership of 102 between Andy Sturdy and skipper Ray Baggaley but the innings petered out when four wickets fell for 9 runs but still finishing with a creditable 152-7.

Drax are second after a routine win at struggling Stamford Bridge. Batting first the Bridge were dismissed for 92 with Darren Brinded taking five wickets. An unbeaten 33 from Gary Slaywe saw Drax home comfortably.

Ovington were much too strong for neighbouring Bishopthorpe in a game dominated by David Whittle. The Bishops were never comfortable and were all out for 97. Whittle took 6 for 43 and followed this with an unbeaten 43 to see the visitors home by seven wickets.

The accuracy of the Burn attack of Dave Queenan, David Prime and Ashley Abbott was too much for Hemingbrough who were dismissed for 87 with eight of the batsmen being bowled. No such problems for Burn as Richard Walker saw them safely home.

Brian Garnett led Norwich Union to 198 for 7 with a well worked 79 against Stockton & Hopgrove but with the Kerrisons in sparkling form this was not enough. Tony Kerrison hit 104 not out and Dave 41 as the Villagers strolled home by eight wickets.

Paul Thorpe and Chris Elliott were the top scorers for Clifton Alliance at Wheldrake. Their tea score of 146 for 8 proved ample as the hosts' severely depleted team were hustled out for 56 leaving Clifton top of the second division.

David Beilby, carrying his bat for 38, showed how difficult North Duffield found scoring against British Sugar with the innings closing at 119 for 5.

Sugar lost Clive Heaton for a third-ball duck but Steve Bellerby, unbeaten on 60 which included three sixes and eight fours, put on 94 with Simon Taylor (56).

Bellerby was joined by his son Scott to steer Sugar home by eight wickets to go third behind Westow.

Copmanthorpe defeated Fulfordgate in a low-scoring game which was dominated by the bowlers.

The 'Gate managed 82 with Pete Fairburn the only batsman to reach double figures. John Hughes took five wickets.

R Atkinson came to Copmanthorpe's rescue with a timely 30 as the bowlers kept it very tight. A couple of run outs showed the nervousness of the Cop batsmen who finally won their game with seven balls and two wickets to spare.

Thorpe Willoughby had little answer to Heworth's Steve Quinn whose nagging length and line brought him six wickets as the hosts struggled to 86 all out. Heworth had few problems with John Dale, unbeaten on 41, leading the visitors safely home.
