HARVESTER, the expanding UK restaurant brand is hunting for suitable sites in York.

Owner of the largely southern chain, Six Continents Retail, wants to expand the restaurants to create what it calls "a major presence in the north." For now, the nearest restaurant to York is in Stoke.

Stephen Leafe, director of acquisitions for Six Continents Retail, said: "The ideal Harvester site is about one acre on a main road location near to an attraction such as a retail or leisure park, if it is a stand-alone restaurant. We are also interested in larger sites, say two acres, which are ideal for a Harvester Restaurant and a hotel. Typically, we like to provide 60 parking spaces for a restaurant or 100 spaces if there is also a hotel."

He claims that all 19 Harvester acquisitions over the past five years have consistently exceeded trading expectations. Mr Leafe urges anyone who wants to tender a site in York to phone him at 0121 4206502.
