York's Civic Party toured the Evening Press as one of its last official functions in office.
Lord Mayor Irene Waudby and Sheriff Janet Greenwood, along with their consorts, were given an inside view of how the Evening Press is produced, from reporters ferreting out stories, through on-screen page design, to rolling off the 24-hour printing press at the Walmgate offices.
They also posed for this digital photograph, which was brought up on to a computer screen and placed on a page within seconds of it being taken.
"We are regular readers of the Evening Press and it is fascinating to see the technology and effort involved in putting a newspaper together so quickly," said Coun Waudby, who hands over her chain of office to Lord Mayor-elect David Horton on Thursday.
