YORK ACORN ARL Junior/Youth secretary Wendy Harkus has been awarded a prestigious gong in Yorkshire rugby league circles.

She was presented with the 'The Bronze Boot Award' from the Yorkshire Junior ARL, awarded for her outstanding and dedicated services to the game at junior level.

The award also included a 'Certificate of Appreciation' praising her work behind the scenes for the club.

Another winner of a special award was Christine Gallacher, who was given the Acorn 'Lady of the Year' award from the club.

York Acorn's junior teams have had their end-of-season presentation nights, with guest appearances from Leeds and Great Britain star Kevin Sinfield, Widnes player and former New Earswick junior Dan Potter, and top referee Russell Smith.

Under-12s: Most Improved - Tom Harrison and Matthew Cartwright; Coach's Player and Players' Player - Oliver Harrison; Man of Steel - David Leeke.

Under-13s: Most Improved - Chris Richardson; Coach's Player - Lee Spain; Clubman - Tom Speck; Players' Player - Matthew Gray; Man of Steel - Mark Gover.

Under-14s: Most Improved Player - Adam Winterburn; Coach's Player - Jason Smith; Clubman - Matthew Nelson; Players' Player and Man of Steel - Thomas Mackley.

Under-15s: Coach's Player - Simon Wadsworth; Players' Player - Danny Holder; Most Improved - Luke Noone; Man of Steel - Tom Hill; Clubman - Martin Schofield.
