OOH LA LA Guv! They can't promise you'll meet a Pearly Queen or ladies from the Moulin Rouge, but York's National Railway Museum (NRM) is offering three lucky families the chance to explore their home cities in a Golden Jubilee competition.

London or Paris could be the holiday choice of the winners in a prize draw being held by the NRM - but they will be able to travel to any Eurostar destination with prize tickets worth up to £1,200.

The winners will be able to start their dream holidays in style by spending two nights in London courtesy of York-based Superbreak Mini-Holidays.

The competition will help raise funds to ensure the future of a jewel in the NRM crown.

Each £1 ticket in the draw will go towards helping to preserve Queen Victoria's last surviving royal carriage.

Just over a century after her death, the NRM admits Queen Victoria would probably be less than amused by the saloon's present condition, and a major conservation project costing at least £100,000 is planned to return it to its former glory.

Andrew Scott, NRM head, said: "Visitors who buy Golden Jubilee Prize Draw tickets will be making a direct contribution to the conservation of this magnificent example of Victorian design and in doing so will help to ensure that it is preserved for future generations to enjoy."
