While the majority of the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton York Vale League first division sides were flexing their muscles against the second division teams Thorpe Willoughby pulled off the shock result of the day when beating Ovington in the first round of the Horwath Pulleyn Heselton Cup.
Stockton & Hopgrove, Burn and Norwich Union all piled up runs and Bishopthorpe's bowlers tamed Westow.
North Duffield, having being restricted to 105-9, lost to York by one wicket but not before they had given them a tremendous scrap.
York Post Office beat Drax for their first win of the season.
Hirst United and Escrick Park, both unbeaten in the league, locked horns in the second round of the Scothern Construction Cup, visitors Park winning a close game by 11 runs.
Burton Salmon made a successful start to defending the trophy by beating Drax by three wickets.
Kelfield were given a good run for their money by Copmanthorpe, while Bishopthorpe were outplayed by Tollerton Outlaws. Wistow got back to winning way by beating Acomb.
