After a cracking weekend of racing, it's back to basic fare tomorrow with only an all-weather Flat meeting at Lingfield Park and a modest jumping fixture at Newton Abbott on the menu.

Kieren Fallon, who finished runner-up in yesterday's Italian Derby after riding two winners at Haydock on Saturday, will be in action in Lingfield's feature race, the £10,000 Sunday June 9th Funday Showcase Handicap.

Fallon teams-up with Brilliant Basil, trained in Norton by Lynda Stubbs, and this speedy three-year-old has every chance of winning.

Although he has yet to win on this Polytrack surface, his last two appearances on sand have proved successful. Brilliant Basil can make his journey south worthwhile by winning this seven furlongs race.

White Plains is another North Yorkshire challenger with a big chance in the Bollinger Champagne Amateur Riders' Challenge Series Handicap.

David Barron's raider is no stranger to this track and is a previous winner over this course and distance.

From a stable in fine form, White Plains is napped to score in the hands of Tom Best, one of the most accomplished amateurs in the business.

Kenley Lass has shown enough in her two starts to suggest a bold bid will be forthcoming in the Stora Enso Median Auction Maiden Stakes. Chris Catlin, last season's champion apprentice, has the mount on Nerys Dutfield's two-year-old.

Over the sticks at Newton Abbott tomorrow, Tony McCoy, who rode three winners at Southwell yesterday, can add to his score on Golden Alpha in the Town Council Golden Jubilee Novices' Chase.

At Thirsk's meeting this evening, Up Tempo is Evening Press racing tipster Tom O'Ryan's Nap selection to waltz away from his rivals.

The Tim Easterby-trained colt, a useful juvenile two years ago, has yet to trouble the judge in five outings this season, but has slipped to a decent handicap mark as a result and should make a bold show in the Betfair.com Fair Betting Classified Stakes (8.05).

Up Tempo, who ran several fine races in defeat last season, will have the services of Tony Culhane, and is preferred to Easterby's other runner in the race, the headstong Time To Remember.
