Carlton Towers remain at the top of division one of Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League despite having to settle for second best in a draw at Crayke, who are now ten points adrift in second place.

Jonathon Wright was again among the runs for the home side, making 62. Graeme Dawson added 38 to enable the villagers to reach 182 for eight despite a return of six for 72 by Kashif Siddique Khan.

Mick Hutchinson then caused problems for the Carlton batsmen by taking five for 54, but Paul Wright's 44 enabled his side to emerge with a draw at 122 for eight.

At nearby Stillington, a good win by Whitkirk, who successfully chased a home score of 194 for two, enabled the Leeds side to move into third place, one point behind Crayke.

Stillington's Aussie, Mark Maddock, scored an unbeaten 103 and then took five for 23 but could not prevent defeat for his side, who are 23 points adrift at the foot of the table. Shamy Dissanayake also hit 54 not out as Stillington reached 194 for two.

Whitkirk's successful response was engineered by Andrew Pierson (54), Jamaican Darren Grey (41), Neil Edgecock (28) and Craig Shipton (32), who combined to take Whitkirk to a winning 198 for seven.

Driffield won by four wickets in a high-scoring game with east Yorkshire rivals Hull Zingari. They also overcame a half-hour delay because of rain.

Hull posted a useful 198 for eight, Alistair Markham making 62 and Andy Hamson 71. Andrew Winterbottom took four for 32 for the hosts. Phil Woodcock then laid the foundation for victory with a steady 36 before Martin Dean (64) and Andy Morfitt (30) countered Mark Beddis' three for 49 to take Driffield to victory at 202 for six.

At St Helens Road, Paul Wilkie bowled Duncombe Park to a 64 run win by taking five for 52.

Park had made 198 for through Colin Humpleby (43), Peter Kent (39) and Mark Mulvihill (32 not out). John Crowe took four for 43 for Dringhouses, who were then dismissed for 134, with Andy Kenyon scoring 34, Mark Fenton 32 and Richard Klarik 26 not out.

Ripon kept well in touch with the leaders when they were taken to a seven wicket victory over York by Chris Warters and Peter Squires. They both scored 53 not out and shared an unbroken stand of 112. York's Ed Sennick was dismissed for 99 in York's total of 151 for six.

Sessay lost a little ground but their losing draw did prevent Goole Town gaining their first win of the season.

Batting first, Goole reached 185 for six, Steve Foster making 63 and Neil Foster 51. Steve Frare took three for 32 for Sessay, who then slumped to 33 for five before Chris Till (28 not out) and Darren Atkinson (32 not out) guided their side to a draw at 100 five.
