HEWORTH'S Richard Bowling set a first in the Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League as his side ended New Earswick's unbeaten start to the season in division three.

Bowling became the first player to score a century and perform a hat-trick in the same game as his side won by 112 runs.

He made 104 not out to help his team reach 208 for five and after the tea break he took four for 35 to support Tom Quinn's six for 44 as Earswick were dismissed for 96.

Quinn had earlier chipped in with 27 as he and Graham Hogben (36) helped mount a winning score.

Sewerby's batsmen went on a run spree against promotion rivals Yapham as they notched the highest total of the day, making 262 for three.

Steve Stavely led the way with 83, while Chris Briggs weighed in with 68 and Mike Artley added 50.

Yapham were never in the hunt as Naseer Khan's off-spin caused problems.He captured five for 34 but could not produce the killer punch and Yapham were able to preserve their unbeaten record by closing at 111 for seven.

Rowntree moved into second place after a nine wicket win over Heslington.

Winning skipper Paul Horner took eight wickets but was too modest to give details of runs conceded as Heslington were bowled out for 125.

Rowntree lost an early wicket but Gerry Capelin, one of three ex-Heslington players in the Rowntree side, made 44 not out and Nick Sedgwick 66 not out and they shared an unbeaten stand of 123.

Civil Service gained their first win of the season when they ended Woodhouse Grange's unbeaten record with a four wicket victory at Boroughbridge Road.

Rees Houghton took six for 37 to dismiss Grange for 134. Tim Jarvis then made 46 to see Service to their victory.

Londesbrough Park's 221 for five was beyond Hovingham, who gained a draw at 157 for eight.

Park's John Williamson made 67, Stuart Craven 60 not out and Simon Dodd 54.

Nick Elliott responded with 58, while Park's Richard Cooper took three for 28.

Cawood gained their first win of the season by beating bottom-placed Whitkirk, whose seven wicket defeat was their fifth loss in six outings.

Tom Clark made 44 and Gary Thorpe 33 of Whitkirk's 159 for seven. Former Selby player Robert Wood hit 48 for Cawood before Dave Thompson's 47 not out steered them to victory.
