Lowly Sheriff Hutton provided one of the shocks of the day in Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior League when they had the better of a draw in a low-scoring division four game against high-flying Pickering.

Sheriff Hutton club secretary Richard Armitage followed a top score of 49 by taking three for 36.

His skipper, Simon Thornton, chipped in with 31 but Tony Evans, with six for 49, and Will Curtis (three for 23) seemed to have bowled Pickering into a winning position as Sheriff Hutton were restricted to 135 nine.

Thornton then lent support to Armitage with two for 23 and Pickering's much acclaimed batting line-up struggled to 83 for seven.

Easingwold moved into second place when they completed an 'on-the-day' double over Sheriff Hutton Bridge, whose 159 for nine proved to be totally inadequate as Graham Sanders hit an unbeaten 91 and Tom Langstaff made 30.

Bolton Percy kept up their promotion drive when they swept aside an Acomb team, who were dismissed for 94 in the 39th over.

Chris Hill hit 43 and then Nick Lister steered Bolton Percy to their target with an unbeaten 36.

Huntington were hustled out for 57 and lost by ten wickets at Dunnington. Dave Kitching took three for six, and Steve Whittaker three for 16. Ian Burgess (39 not out) and Gary Andrew (21 not out) knocked off the runs without loss.

Dringhouses won at Huby for their first victory of the season but they remain at the foot of the division.

Paul Moore took seven for 30 as the visiitors were dismissed for 145. Grant McLean then took three for 18 and 15-year-old Jack Aaron three for 15 as Huby were bowled out for 113.

Selby edged into the top half of the table when they got the better of a draw with Osbaldwick.

Steve Whisker made 72 to help Selby to 175 for seven. Osbaldwick were then restricted to 88 for seven by Steve Whitehead (three for 38).
