York City chairman John Batchelor today revealed another new signing alongside Luther Blissett, writes Dave Stanford.

Jo Kraemer, (pictured left) has been signed by Batchelor to race for B&Q Jet York City Racing and will compete under the City colours in the Elf Clio Renaultsport UK Cup.

She is currently racing in the championship for Bintcliffe Sport Racing, from Boroughbridge, alongside her father, Rick.

Rick is vastly experienced in saloon car racing, having already competed in the British Touring Car Championship in which Batchelor himself drives.

But for Jo it is her debut season.

Speaking to the Evening Press at the end of last year, Jo confessed her ultimate aim was to get the Kraemer name back on the BTCC circuit.

Batchelor confirmed today that was his long-term plan too.

"Jo is in her first season of motor-racing and our intention is to develop her as a driver and then move her up the ladder," said the City chairman.

"Hopefully, she will be in place by this weekend's racing at Silverstone, if not very definitely for the race after at Mondello Park."

The Clio Championship serves as a support race for the BTCC with many of the drivers starting out in the series before progressing to touring cars.

The 21-year-old from Clifton, who was unveiled at today's press conference alongside new City coach Blissett, said: "I'm very proud to be part of the York City team - I just hope I don't get called up as a substitute as I can't kick a ball straight!

"I might join in a few training sessions though to keep my fitness up for racing.

"This gives me an added incentive to do well on the track. I will be representing my home town and I don't want to let it or York City Ladies down.

"Us girls have a lot to offer the sport and I think this is a great way of highlighting what we are capable of."
