FRENCH electronic trio Tlpopmusik, through massive Radio 1 backing, have already made an impact on the UK dance audience.
Genetic World, their debut set, is a global journey of imaginative beats, weird TV show samples and off-kilter Parisian flavours ranging from lush jazz to choice hip hop and French house. There are exceptional moments, such as the hit single Breathe, an inspired blend of click-house and dreamy vocals. Love Can Damage Your Health is equally soulful, supported with a roster of re-mixes. Unfortunately, other tracks feel quite cold and impersonal, a nod to influences such as Kraftwerk and Giorgio Moroder. Nevertheless, Tlpopmusik, with the aid of a number of top contributors, have crafted a moody and individually mellow opus that hints at more to come.
