Copmanthorpe defied torrential rain to win 56-52 at Tollerton to chalk up their third successive victory since promotion to division three of the Fulford Ladies Invitation League.
Sue Green and Margaret Whitehead provided a grandstand finish to win their final rubber 10-2 to tip the balance in Copmanthorpe's favour.
The teams had gone into the last round with Copmanthorpe leading 38-34. Tollerton pair Sandra Jennings and Ali Thompson drew 6-6 and the match then swung in the home team's favour as Ann Thompson and Ed Hope recorded a 10-2 victory but the Green-Whitehead combination pulled the match out of the fire for the visitors.
Janet Hare and Ruby Gourlay won 25 games as Selby beat Rowntree Park 67-41 in division two.
Bishopthorpe first string Chris Smith and Natalie O'Connor clocked up 9-3 10-2 10-2 wins as their team beat Civil Service 65-43.
First division Wheldrake were on course for their first win of the season when they lead Castlegarth 40-32 going in to the final round, but Castlegarth won the remaining three rubbers, collecting 23 games, to win 55-53.
Tadcaster edged out Bubwith 59-49 with Carol Hall and Lorraine Pearey top scored with 21 games.
Fulford beat Poppleton 69-39 with Jill McCreedy and Di Ekers in great form, winning 9-3 9-3 11-1. Louise Lister and Wendy Stirke amassed 30 games as champions York beat Dunnington.
Wigginton went top of division four by beating Wistow 55-53 despite Wistow's number one pairing of Sue Hudson and Justine Vickers winning all their rubbers for 26 games.
Pocklington didn't lose a single rubber on their way to a 74-34 victory at Strensall with Jean Billington and Andrea Bland winning 27 games.
Division five leaders Castlegarth beat Knaresborough 65-43, Dunnington defeated Selby 75-33 and Lynda Pearson and Margaret Evans recorded 28 games as Poppleton beat Appleton Roebuck 77-31.
Teams who have sent in late scorecards, or cards which have been filled in incorrectly, have been fined £2. The teams are Castlegarth I, Rowntree Park, Riccall, Bishopthorpe II and Knaresborough II.
PLAY Tennis for Juniors proved to be a huge success at Fulford Tennis Centre on Saturday.
Thirty children were treated to a free session with the club's coach and senior players, while there was match play and fun games for prizes at the end.
Another session is planned for July.
