KNAVESMIRE Harriers have enjoyed considerable success in a hectic of programme of events.

The Harriers dominated the team competitions at the Thirsk Ten Mile road race, the men finishing second and the ladies collecting first and the prize for the second team

The men's finishers were Neil Strange (12th and 1st in the Over-40s), Dave Chippett (13th), Ian Anderson (18th) and Neil Holdsworth (60th). Brian Wakeley finished 34th but was a late entry so his placing did not count.

The ladies' finishers were Lisa Guscott-Trout (1st), Jane Shelmerdine (2nd and 1st O35s), Mandy Clarke (4th), Christine Shouksmith (5th and 1st O40s), Bev Hodgson (6th and 1st O45s), Rebecca Weekes (8th), Helen Turtin (12th) and Tricia Hawkins (27th).

In the Leeds Half-Marathon, Mick McGrath was the first Knavesmire runner home in 54st, while Christine Shouksmith was first lady home in 12th. The full marathon saw Rob McDonald finish in 4-45-20, ahead of Paul and Susan Adams.

The Beverley 10k saw Andy Smith first Harrier home in 58th, out of more than 1,000 runners, with Joan Heron the first lady home.

Knavesmire, led by skipper Lisa Guscott-Trout, also won the Wigginton 10k, with Harold Dobson winning the men's O60s section in 38-07.

Dobson, aged 65, also won the Rothwell 10k despite finishing in 74th place. His age-related result saw him finish with a score of more than 90 per cent. Race winner Ian Malone managed just 86 per cent in comparison.
