A LIGHTED beacon will mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee in York.
The gas flame will be lit by the Lord Mayor of York, Councillor David Horton, on Monday at Knavesmire.
It has been designed by students of Askham Bryan Agricultural College.
Liz Topi, City of York Council's events officer, said: "I approached them with the idea, gave them a picture of what I wanted, and away they went."
The lighting will be accompanied by fireworks produced by York company Firepower and paid for by Steve Graham, of Thunder Theme Park, which will also be at Knavesmire.
