A HEAVY goods lorry hung precariously over a railway line near Harrogate today after crashing into a bridge.
The accident happened on the A658 between North Rigton and Pannal at 3.23am.
The driver and a passenger escaped uninjured.
Railtrack closed off the line for several hours and the road was also blocked with diversions put in place.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the lorry crashed into barriers and ended up on its side with the trailer hanging precariously over the parapet.
A salvage vehicle pulled it away from the edge and Railtrack engineers checked the safety of the bridge before reopening the line.
