North Yorkshire's Simon Dyson responded to a patchy opening to the English Open at the Forest of Arden with a birdie blitz.
Malton and Norton Golf Club's Dyson suffered bogeys at the second, fifth and 11th holes, but countered with six birdies, including three on the back nine to post a three-under-par 69 - four adrift of joint-leaders Darren Clarke and Jarrod Moseley.
