It was a busy weekend of club action in the York area, with plenty of angling matches on the Stillwater commercial circuit.

Mick Addinall topped the Nomads event fished on Goldrush lake at the Willows fishery.

Drawn in the corner on peg 45 he targeted the carp with pole and paste attack from the off. He was rewarded with a string of fish to 2lb for his wining 41lb net.

Russ Walker took second from peg with a level 30lb. He pole-fished pellet to the trees for a mixed bag of carp, ide, barbel and chub.

The chasing pack fought out a close run thing with Gordon Fenell getting the verdict on 29lb 5oz. Steve Hodson 28lb 8oz and Dave Ward 25lb 12oz were his nearest challengers.

The mid-week open at the same venue saw 35 fish on Tuesday evening. Darryl Taylor took this one with 28lb 4oz. Drawn on the point at peg 36 he alternated chopped worm and casters at 8 metres for a mixed bag of carp and ide.

At the next peg Mick Addinall stuck to his usual pellet and paste attack for an all carp 27lb 12oz. Best of the rest were: Ian Walker 26-12-0; Stuart Thompson 26-4-0; Tony Hewson 20-8-0; Andy Gallant 20-0-0.

Black Horse enjoyed a good match on Sunday where 22 members tackled the newly refurbished and replenished Tollerton Ponds.

Chris Vipas led the charge with a fine bag of 26lb 7oz. His winning net included some quality tench plus small carp and fell to a mixture of meat and worm baits.

Ray Wright had a superb all roach net of 19lb 13oz for second place. His catch fell to pole fished casters fished on the drop.

Others: Colin Sherwood 19-2-0; Brian Pallister 18-8-0; Chris Evans 12-10-0; Alan Atkinson 11-2-0.

Sea Horse AC enjoyed mixed fortunes on the Ouse at Poppleton with the majority netting eels, perch and roach and the winners getting among the bream.

Ken Wallis managed to winkle out a brace of slabs for his winning net of 6lb 5oz. Derek Rix took second with 4lb 10oz ahead of John Milner on 4lb 2oz.

Others: P Winterburn 2-12-0; M Walsh 1-14-0; R Styan and T Rider both 1-3-0.

Acomb Tackle have been hosting regular matches at Oaktree Fishery at Huby, with some excellent catches being taken by some of the younger competitors.

It was left to the 'old boy' to show them how to do it this week though as Acomb Tackle's Mick Brind, fishing pole and worm 'bonker', netted nine bream plus some small carp for his bag of 40lb 8oz.

Adam Robinson with 38lb and Cliff Foster and Martin Utley both on 31lb 8oz relied more on small carp and tench .

The previous week Adam Robinson won with 46lb 4oz from Paul Lansley on 35lb and Steve Hodson with 31lb 10oz.
