SCARBOROUGH FC are currently being put through their paces at York College.

It is not unusual for clubs to head to the Yorkshire coast for a spot of running on the beaches as part of their pre-season preparations.

But Boro have headed inland to York to flex their muscles.

Former York City player Gordon Staniforth, football co-ordinator at York College, who is keen to show off the college's excellent sporting facilities to Boro said: "The college is happy to build links with Scarborough Football Club, it's all part of game."

Boro boss Russell Slade, said: "The team are extremely impressed with the location. The college's training facilities are very good indeed and we are particularly keen to take advantage of the excellent fitness suite at the college. The club are happy to be associated with the college and all that such a relationship can offer."

Meanwhile, Scarborough will kick off playing preparations with a pre-season friendly against Division Three side Hull City at the McCain Stadium on Tuesday, (KO 7.45pm).

Boro had lined up a friendly away to UniBond League outfit North Ferriby United on Saturday but that match has had to be called off as United's pitch is not yet ready for action.
