YOUNG scientists at Archbishop Holgate's CE School in York have been lending their ideas to experts at Smith and Nephew.
The industry scientists enlisted the help of Year Nine pupils to help them with their latest research project - to improve dressings for foot injuries.
A group of 12 Year Nine pupils then went to Smith and Nephew's headquarters to make presentations about three different solutions.
Head teacher John Harris: "The project was all the more interesting for them because it was a real problem the scientists were actually working on."
He said the partnership with the company had stepped up a gear since the school won its bid to become a specialist science college from September.
The firm will also help to forge links with its feeder primary schools.
