Sir Alex Ferguson can savour the racing spotlight yet again at Glorious Goodwood tomorrow as his star performer Rock Of Gibraltar bid to extend his unbeaten record in the feature race on day two of the meeting.

The colt, trained by Aidan O'Brien, goes for the £265,000 Sussex Stakes and will be one of six horses, including two of his stablemates, to face the starter in this Group 1 contest.

Rock Of Gibraltar has already stacked-up a sequence of five Group 1 victories and success tomorrow will enable him to become the first horse since the great Mill Reef to win six successive premier races.

The three-year-old, who completed the English-Irish 2,000 Guineas double in the spring, followed up in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.

He will start at cramped odds again tomorrow, despite the presence of last year's winner Noverre and the Sir Michael Stoute-trained No Excuse Needed.

The chances are that no excuse will be needed for Rock Of Gibraltar as he aims to provide Ferguson with another big sporting success.

Hugs Dancer will be a popular choice in the opening race, the Marriott Hotels Goodwood Handicap over two miles and five furlongs.

Not many horses truly stay this gruelling trip, but James Given's hardy gelding proved his stamina when winning this race 12 months ago.

He has been running well enough lately to suggest that back-to-back victories are achieveable. Dean McKeown again has the mount on my Nap selection.

The £70,000 Tote Gold Trophy is the target for Richard Fahey's Oldenway and the three-year-old can make the most of his light weight.

Although denied a hat-trick of wins at Ripon last time, Oldenway can be excused that fourth-placed effort as his race was run at an early crawl before turning into a three-furlong sprint. Paul Hanagan has the mount.

Summerland gets my vote to lift the Champagne Victor Vintage Stakes, while Another Secret has done enough this summer to suggest a bold bid in the Weatherbys Bank Fillies' Stakes.

At Carlisle, Academy is fancied to register his third win from his last four outings by taking the Port Carlisle Handicap.

The seven-year-old has hit a rich vein of form this summer for Norton trainer Andy Turnell. The mount goes tomorrow to Fergal Lynch, who is knocking in winners almost daily at present.

Also worth noting at Carlisle are the promising Short Respite (3.30) and the in-form Tancred Arms (4.40).

Wednesday's tips:
