North Yorkshire trainer David Nicholls is hoping that history can repeat itself - again - at Goodwood tomorrow, writes Tom O'Ryan.

Yesterday, Nicholls' Zuhair won the Charlton Handicap for an amazing fourth successive year. Flak Jacket, his stablemate, finished fourth, just as he did last year before going on to win the Stewards' Sprint Handicap on the course 48 hours later.

Significantly, the same double will be attempted tomorrow, with Flak Jacket again bidding for the six furlongs dash, with Adrian Nicholls, the trainer's son, in the saddle.

A winner at York prior to his trip to Sussex, Flak Jacket is in fine form as he bids to continue a purple patch for his trainer.

Nicholls, based at Sessay near Thirsk, also had a winner on the course on Tuesday with True Night. Tomorrow could see Flak Jacket get his name on the scoreboard.

Mark Johnston, another North Yorkshire trainer enjoying a celebratory meeting at Goodwood, saddles Love Regardless in the Theo Fennell Lennox Stakes and this highly-regarded three-year-old is taken to triumph.

Impressive winner of his only start last season, at Newcastle, Love Regardless was thought good enough to bid for the 2,000 Guineas in the spring, but failed to come up to scratch.

A sick horse afterwards, he was not seen out until a couple of weeks ago at Doncaster when he just failed to get the better of L'Oiseau D'Argent in a thrilling finish. That comeback outing should have put an edge on Love Regardless to get back in the winning groove here.

The £100,000 William Hill Mile is wide-open but Heretic makes plenty of appeal after his easy win at Sandown last time. Oscar Urbina has the mount on James Fan-shawe's progressive four-year-old.

Kevin Ryan, enjoying a fine season, should have a fighting chance of winning the Bexley Nursery Handicap with Seashore.

This cheaply-bought filly has won twice already this season, including a nursery at Haydock last month, the form of which is working out well. Fergal Lynch takes the mount on the nap selection.

At Thirsk, Richard Fahey has good prospects of adding to his burgeoning score.

Night Flight ran well enough when finishing third at Doncaster last time to suggest a bold bid in the Peter Bell Memorial Handicap, while the in-form Portacasa has every chance of making it four wins for the season in the Crayke Fillies' Stakes.

Tomorrow's tips:

Goodwood: 2-15 Macaw; 2-45 Love Regardless; 3-20 Heretic; 3-50 Prompt Payment; 4-25 Seashore (NAP); 5-00 Black Swan; 5-35 Flak Jacket.

Thirsk: 2-05 Twentyfour; 2-35 Night Flight; 3-10 Johnston's Diamond; 3-40 Portacasa; 4-15 Sting Like A Bee; 4-50 Promising.
