SEX fiend Russell Bishop has been transported back to Full Sutton Prison after spending more than a week on a ward at York District Hospital.

The 36-year-old, who was jailed for life in 1990 for kidnap, indecent assault and the attempted murder of a seven-year-old girl at a Brighton beauty spot called Devil's Dyke, was transported from the hospital yesterday afternoon in a security van.

Bishop had spent ten days as a patient at the hospital. It was thought that he was awaiting emergency heart surgery in Leeds.

Before being jailed, Bishop was cleared of killing two nine-year-old girls, Nicola Fellows and Karen Hadaway, in a high profile case dubbed the "Babes in the Wood" murders.

The family of Nicola reacted with disbelief to the situation.

Her aunt Gillian, who lives in Acomb, York, said she was disgusted that Bishop was getting treatment in York.

Bishop's father Roy said today from his Brighton home that he could understand why people were outraged that his son was getting treatment, but the publicity was the last thing his family needed.
