THE two games played in division four saw Easingwold improve their promotion chances with a win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Pickering up the gap at the top by gaining the better of a draw with Sheriff Hutton.
Dave Houldridge (6-52) and Steve Glaves (2-75) shared the 45 overs when Easingwold batted against SHB and at one stage had half the side out for 58.
Gavin Rees (35) and Ken Skilbeck (31) revived the hosts' fortunes and helped them reach 127-9.
The second half of the game was dominated by Adrian Leckenby (7-34 off 18 overs). Chris Walls (20) and David Coverdale (20) offered some resistence but Trevor Smith 3-21) abetted Leckenby and SHB were all out for 97 in the 36th over.
The game at Pickering was redu-ced to 35 overs and the hosts' 155- 9 - made by Kevin Wilson (40), Andy Hill (44) and Andrew Gray-son (29), against Steve Thornton (4-46) and Tony Hull (3-27) - represented a daunting target.
Sheriff Hutton made little impact in their reply. Ian Johnson (2-7) bowled five maidens in seven overs while James Feaster (2-15) and Grayson (1-9) gained rewards as Sheriff moved with caution to 71-7.
