TESTS were taking place today to find out what caused the deaths of two men whose bodies were found in a bedsit.

Police were called to a Harrogate address after the men were found inside a room containing drug paraphernalia.

Part of the building in Franklin Street, at the heart of the town's bed-sit area, off Stawberry Dale, was sealed off after the discovery.

The two men, aged 28 and 30, are believed to be local.

Police spokesman Tony Lidgate said officers were trying to contact their families, who may live outside the Yorkshire area.

He added that investigators had removed a number of items relating to drug abuse from the scene, after the discovery at 3pm on Saturday.

Officers have now launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the men's death.

Pathologists were expected to carry out a post-mortem examination today. Toxicology tests may also be conducted later today.

Anyone with information is asked to phone Harrogate CID on 01609 783131.
