Paul Hanagan, the jockey-of-the-moment, can ride a winner for his old boss at Beverley tomorrow.

The Malton rider teams-up with Clarinch Claymore, trained by Malcolm Jefferson, in the Charles Elsey Memorial Challenge Trophy.

Clarinch Claymore has won on the course and revels on easy ground, which he is forecast to get tomorrow.

Hanagan started his racing career with Jefferson before moving on, with the trainer's blessing, to his present guv'nor Richard Fahey, who has more Flat horses than his Norton neighbour.

With this year's apprentice title virtually assured, Hanagan, with more than 50 winners, is well on his way to being among the top 10 jockeys in Britain.

Frankie Dettori returns to action at Salisbury tomorrow after a week off with chickenpox picked-up from one of his children.

Dettori, whose rides at next week's York Ebor meeting will include dual-Classic winner Kazzia in the Yorkshire Oaks, has several mounts tomorrow.

St Pancras, a well-regarded colt, and successful on his debut, should give the Italian a good ride in the Stonehenge Conditions Stakes. Neville Callaghan's two-year-old scored in good style at Newmarket last month and looks a useful performer in the making.

Dettori will also be aboard Fraulein in the £40,000 Upavon Fillies' Stakes, but might have to bow to Pat Eddery on my Nap selection Chorist.

The William Haggas-trained three-year-old was an unlucky loser at Goodwood last time, meeting trouble in running when finishing sixth to Macaw.
