GIANT models of famous aircraft which can no longer take to the skies will be among the main attractions at this year's Yorkshire Giant Model Air Spectacular.

The event, which showcases the world's finest model aircraft, takes place at the Ouse Gliding Club, Rufforth, over the August Bank Holiday, August 24 to 26.

Shown here is a Nieuport 28, a one half-scale model of a biplane which saw action over the trenches of France and Belgium in the First World War.

The plane, which weighs 120lbs, uses a 350cc engine, and will be on show at the event. Joining it will be what is thought to be the biggest and most powerful single-engined, radio-controlled aircraft in the world, a recreation of the Bristol Bulldog.
