STEPHEN Lewis's timely feature, 'World in peril' (August 13), adds another voice to the debate about global warming.
Environment minister Michael Meacher had a similar stark message on his return last month from the Arctic. His conclusion was: "Science is telling us to expect large change."
His government appears not to be listening. The reason for the sever flooding is because the earth crying.
When recently a 500 billion tonne ice shelf, the size of a small country, disintegrated in less than one month, it's not surprising that sea levels are rising at an alarming rate.
Perhaps the only wake up call governments will listen to is when the House of Commons is under water!
