York City's pace-setting squad is moving back to full fitness ahead of this weekend's trip to Scunthorpe.

Having missed the opening salvo, and a call up to the Northern Ireland set-up, goalkeeper Alan Fettis will continue his battle to overcome the effects of a broken finger.

Centre-half Chris Smith is expected back with the main squad having suffered from sickness and dizziness in the 4-3 thrilling victory against Torquay on Saturday, while left-midfielder Graham Potter should be training again after badly scalding his foot before the first game of the season.

Richard Cooper should also be back on the training ground, but the former Nottingham Forest midfielder will be working out under the watch eyes of physio Jeff Miller and conditioning coach Kevin Hornsby.

Argentinian trialist Nicolas Mazzina is still requiring treatment on a knee injury he picked up in the 4-1 pre-season victory over Tadcaster Albion. However, the club are hopeful to have the tricky winger back among their number in the next few days to continue his trial.

Another of City's South American trialists, Brazilian Rogerio Carvalho, is still waiting for international clearance. City are hoping it will come through in time to allow the 22-year-old striker, who is poised to sign a deal at the club, to play in tomorrow's reserve fixture against Darlington.

Lee Bullock is also expected to play some part in that fixture.

Meanwhile, UniBond League premier division side Wakefield and Emley have recruited a York City frontline as they look to push for the Conference.

Simon Parke, who was on trial with City during pre-season, and Rodney Rowe, who netted 20 goals in 97 League appearances for the Minstermen, have both signed to lead the Emley line this season.

And 27-year-old Rowe, who had a brief spell at Gillingham before joining Hull City from where he was released this summer, made an immediate impact by opening his account in the 1-1 draw with Marine.
