OSBALDWICK travelled to Dringhouses for a tough opening game on their return to the Premier Division of the Leeper Hare York and District Senior League, writes Colin Atkinson.
Os managed to unsettle their high-flying opponents until the closing minutes of the first half when Dringhouses' Mark Ratcliffe hit a well placed shot to open the scoring.
An injury to Neil Rankeillor forced the home side to change their game plan and the introduction of substitute Colin Raynor improved their passing game.
Neil Ducey, who had an outstanding game, increased their lead by rounding off a well worked move and Raynor completed the scoring to make it 3-0.
Huntington left it late to open the scoring at Bishopthorpe with a Jamie Seal goal and Graham MacDonald made sure of a 2-0 victory with a goal in the dying minutes.
After a blank first half Dunnington's Chris Burgess opened the scoring in the 50th minute in their home game with Crayke. Dave Copeland levelled matters for the visitors but Andy Rose put Dunnington back into the lead but they were unable to increase their advantage despite creating many chances.
Kartiers won the derby game 2-0 at Riccall where the youthful home side played well without finding the net. Danny Hewitt opened the scoring after half an hour but it took a Mark Lucas header two minutes from time to make the points safe.
Malton Bacon Factory were 6-1 victors in their derby at Old Malton where the home side failed to take their chances and had to settle for a lone first half effort from Neil Wilford.
Factory were 2-1 up at the break with goals from Simon Collins and Darryl Craggs. Jamie Hopwood increased their lead within ten minutes of the restart and they finished with three in the last ten minutes. The first came from Nick Cass, the second was a 35-yard screamer from Lee Dunning, and Jamie Barker netted a last-minute penalty.
Champions Pocklington made it two wins in a row with a visit to Wigginton Grasshoppers. After falling behind to an early penalty. Goals from Brent Terry, Mike Murr and Owen Ellis gave them a first half lead and further goals from Terry and Ellis put the result beyond doubt although Grasshoppers reduced the arrears with two late goals.
