HISTORY was made at Bolton Percy where Malton & Old Malton bowler Wayne Dawson became the first bowler for ten years to capture all ten wickets.

Dawson, playing in the second team after recovering from injury, tore through the Bolton innings to capture 10-39 as he recorded the 12th ten-wicket haul since league records began in 1957.

His performance was a new record for division five and the best by a Malton player in the club's short history in the league.

Unfortunately one of his deliveries resulted in Bolton veteran Ian Russell being taken to hospital after being hit in the face prior to falling on to his wicket in a 'hit-wicket' dismissal. It is understood that Russell was allowed home after receiving treatment.

After the drama of the first innings, John Foxton steered Malton to an eight-wicket victory being unbeaten with 26.

Selby II could only muster 62 in their first innings against Pocklington. Mal Harrison took 4-12 and Gavin Peace 3-33, then Ted Donkin made 28 before being the solitary wicket to fall in Pocklington's reply.

There was no play in the game between Sessay and Thirsk.

Tadcaster Magnet lost the leadership and almost certainly the chance of taking the divisional title when they suffered a home defeat to Carlton Towers.

Tadcaster are now 17 points behind Malton and only have one game to play while the leaders have two fixtures remaining. Batting first, Magnet made a reasonable score as Kevin Wakefield 40 and John Reynolds 38no matched the threat of Simon Boddye 4-56 to post a total of 159-7. Darren Graves then made 40 and Jonathan Dilks 58 in Carlton's reply which moved to a winning 160-4 despite 3-41 from John Wetherhill.

Rowntrees' last wicket pairing of Dominic Atkinson 19no and Tony Edwards 2no frustrated the Thorp Arch bowlers for nine overs to earn their side a draw despite having to negotiate 47 overs.

Having been asked to bat first, Thorp Arch ignored an under-prepared wicket with their batsmen reaching 203-5 before declaring after utilising 41 of their 44 over allocation. Andy Hawkswell made 71 before falling to a Keith Dales catch and shared in a 68-run stand with Mike Cole 54. Cole enjoyed a 60 run liaison with Chris Magee (26) as the Rowntrees bowlers saw skied shots fall into gaps with alarming regularity. The most successful home bowler was Neil Davidson who had 3-62 on his return from a month long illness.

Rowntrees opener Steve Aldous then made 42 as his side progressed to 75 before losing their second wicket. TABS skipper Steve Raine took 5-8 in eight overs before being thwarted by the last wicket pairing as a dropped catch denied TABS points in their bid to snatch a promotion spot.
