WORK to resurface the carriageway on a busy roundabout on York's outer ring road will begin tonight.
The work on the roundabout at the junction of the outer ring road and Wetherby Road, near Acomb, will last for two weeks.
The contractor, Tarmac Ltd National Contracting, will be planing off the existing roundabout surface and 60 metres along each of the four arms of the roundabout, then resurfacing the whole area.
Ray Chaplin, head of the council's engineering consultancy, said the work would be carried out between 7pm and 6am, Monday to Saturday, to minimise the inconvenience to road users.
However, there may still be some delays, for which he apologised in advance.
To undertake the work safely, part the road between Rufforth village and Acomb will need to be closed for some of the time.
Diversion routes will be signposted, either via Askham Richard or via the A59 Boroughbridge Road and Beckfield Lane.
