Sharplaw Venture, successful on her debut at Pontefract earlier this month, can cope with a step up in class at Chester tomorrow.

The William Haggas-trained juvenile lines-up for the EBF Combermere Fillies' Conditions Stakes and is napped to double her score.

Sharplaw Venture showed signs of inexperience on her first outing, but the penny dropped in the closing stages and she swept through to win cosily in the end.

Paul Hanagan, in the saddle on that occasion, is suspended tomorrow, so Pat Eddery comes in for the ride on Sharplaw Venture. A bold bid is anticipated.

Eddery can also land the honours on El Layth in the Claims Bureau UK Nursery.

This useful-looking colt, trained by Michael Jarvis, got off the mark in good style at Beverley this month, and looks open to further improvement. He has good prospects of winning again.

The promising Tripper, trained by John Dunlop, can also add to Eddery's scoresheet by winning the David McLean Developments Maiden Fillies' Stakes.

Forever Times should not be overlooked in the featured £20,000 Chronicle Newspapers Rated Handicap.

Tim Easterby's charge is overdue a winning turn after stacking-up three runner-up efforts.

A previous course-and-distance winner, Forever Times is taken to get back on top here in the hands of apprentice David Allan, who was lucky to escape injury in a nasty fall at Catterick yesterday.

Andrew Tinkler enjoyed a moment to savour when winning the Amateur Riders' Derby at Epsom on Monday on Red Lion, and the pair are set to go into action again in the Bollinger Champagne Challenge Series Handicap.

The 17-year-old Tinkler, son of former Malton jockey and trainer Colin, rode an admirable race at Epsom, where Red Lion carried him to a wide-margin victory. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him tomorrow.

At Ayr, Grey Cossack merits attention in the Weatherbys Travel Classified Stakes over seven furlongs.

David Barker's gelding ran at York last week and did extremely well to finish sixth in a six-furlongs handicap, having been drawn wide and raced with just one other horse on the unfavoured stands side of the track.

He deserves another chance, especially as he is a previous winner at this longer trip and on this course.

The promising Queens Musician (2.55) and the speedy Greenslades (4.35) are two others to note on the Scottish track.
