Burton Salmon became York Vale League division four champions in style when beating nearest rivals Wistow by 102 runs.

Max Driscoll (153) struck another glorious innings, while dad Colin had the ignomy of a duck.

Acomb saw their promotion hopes battered by Huntington as they were routed for 31 by the unplayable Mick Storey and Neil Harrington.

The track, after heavy rain, had favoured the bowlers, and Huntington needed 22 overs to scrape together the runs needed.

R Phillpot, Richard Wain and Chris Johnson gave Selby a sound start against Drax but once dismissed it became a procession with R Ounsley taking 8-29 and veteran 'keeper Mac Fielden snapping up five victims. Steve Goulden and John Peniston knocked off the 82 required without loss.

Fletch and Peter Roberts hit a first-wicket stand of 75 at Tadcaster Magnet and, with additions from Carl Welch (59) and Paul Mizon (25), Ovington raced to 218-9.

Depleted Tadcaster were never in the hunt. Ian Grant and John Kitson reached the 20s and the tail wagged to 135 all out.

Heworth are in the relegation zone after another setback at Burn, who have an outside chance of promotion. Burn reached 145-8 with the top order showing well. Heworth were indebted to a half century from E Woodhead and 28 from T Liver for the bulk of their 131.
