Bishopthorpe are York Vale League division five champions despite their game against York being abandoned at tea.

Stuart Drabble had hit a fine 80 as the Bishops reached 167-8 against the accurate Don Murray (6-70).

York retain second place closely pursued by Pocklington, who have a game in hand and saw Saturday opponents Selby concede.

Nigel Collinson (33) held the Stock-ton & Hopgrove innings together at Wheldrake against 13-year-old Calum Dent (2-20) and 16-year-old John Cockerill (2-20) as the Villagers made 113-5 in 30 overs.

A positive start from Dave Cockerill and Les Fearn gave Wheldrake the edge and the young side held on.

Thorpe Willoughby completed a club double over Copmanthorpe for only their third win of the season.

Ben Beetham rode his luck for 31 as Cop made 119. S Green, who hit a huge six from his first ball, and Paul Newton were the only others in double figures, while there were four wickets apiece for Alister North and Neil Copsey.

Liam Elliker took three early wickets to leave Thorpe on 42-4, but North and Tim Crockford put together a winning stand of 79.
