A YORK shop worker has lost his long flowing locks after agreeing to have his head shaved for charity.
Rob Richards, who works for Marks & Spencer, volunteered to help raise money for breast cancer relief.
Every M&S store has been challenged to raise £1,000 for the charity during October by the store's national lingerie department.
Thanks to Rob's effort, the York branch has already raised £650. Rob, 23, of Riccall, near Selby, said: "It is quite a phenomenal amount, I'm really pleased. The head feels a bit chilly at the moment but people are saying it suits me and I think I'll get used to it.
"I'm ready for any cold weather as well, because they gave me a hat as a thank-you for doing it."
Ruth Randall, lingerie section manager, said: "Thanks to Rob and thanks to everyone who was so generous with their donations.
"We weren't sure if we would be able to make our £1,000 target, but we have made such a good start it looks like we have a really good chance now."
If anyone would like to help the store reach its target by making a donation, phone Ruth on 01904 643377.
