STAFF and pupils at Huntington School are celebrating after raising an amazing £14,000 with a sponsored walk - and hitting their target to buy a new school minibus.
The event was organised by head caretaker John Oakley and deputy headteacher David Kibble.
All the pupils at the school took part, along with five teachers. They could choose two routes of either 15km or 22km - and some even ran it. A similar event held in 1999 raised £10,000 for the minibus, but a further £9,000 was needed to hit the target.
The day was such a success they beat the target by £5,000 and students will now vote for a charity to receive the remaining money.
School spokesman Ian Price said: "They all really enjoyed it and were walking around with big smiles on their faces."
