MALTON and Norton ace Simon Dyson goes into the second round of the Dunhill Links Championship in a strong position after firing a one-under 71 yesterday.
Dyson, paired with amateur Helen Webb, went around the Old Course of St Andrews in fine style to stay in touch of the leading places, despite Eduardo Romero breaking away with a seven-under 65.
Dyson and Webb, who managed a three-under from her round, now move on from St Andrews to the testing Carnoustie course for the second round.
Meanwhile, it was not such a good day for former Ryder Cup captain Mark James, with the Ilkley GC member misfiring over the St Andrews course to finish on 13 over par.
