AN ELDERLY motorist was taken to York District Hospital with suspected internal injuries after a crash on the A59 near York today.
A Mercedes car, driven by the injured man, collided with a lorry at the junction of the A59 with a minor road leading to Upper Poppleton.
The accident, which occurred near the Wyevale Garden Centre at about 11am, left the A59 partly blocked.
The lorry driver is not believed to have suffered any injury in the incident.
Last night, three young people had a lucky escape when their Citroen Saxo car overturned, then rolled into a ditch.
The crash happened on an unclassified road off the A19 near the village of Husthwaite, Easingwold.
Passenger Corrin Dempsey, 17, of Linton-on-Ouse, was taken by ambulance to the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, with bruising and a head injury, but later released.
The driver, Andrew Atkinson, also 17, of Ingleby Barwick, near Thornaby-on-Tees, Cleveland, had shock and minor injuries.
A third person in the car suffered shock and minor injuries.
