Dringhouses took over from Malton Bacon factory at the top of the Leeper Hare York and District League premier division after a 3-0 win at Osbaldwick.

Gary Kitson crossed for Neil Ducey to score the first goal after half an hour.

Colin Raynor made it 2-0 on the hour mark when he netted direct from a free-kick and substitute John Lake volleyed home the third from the edge of the box. Marc Ratcliffe had an outstanding game at the centre of the Dringhouses' midfield.

Riccall moved into mid-table after a 1-1 draw at Rufforth.

Both sides found it difficult to create chances in the first half with Riccall coming the nearest to scoring when Rufforth 'keeper, Chris Maude saved from Darren Davis. The game came to life just after the hour mark when Davis was tripped as he was about to shoot and Ian Robertson put Riccall in front from a twice-taken penalty.

Rufforth pressed for an equaliser and were rewarded five minutes from time when substitute Paul Moss rounded off a good move with a simple tap-in.

In the only other top-flight duel Dave Chandler, Grant Tolworthy and Simon Ward scored in Dunnington's 3-2 win over Bishopthorpe.

Player and club secretary Matt Hildon gave division one outfit Norwich Union the lead from the penalty spot against South Bank after 15 minutes.

But Sean Turner levelled the scores before half-time and after the break he bagged his second to add to Dave Hyde goal in a 3-1 win for South Bank.

Paul Pemberton was also on target from the penalty spot to give Wigginton Black Horse the lead at Post Office but the home side were level before the break when Mike Heels beat the offside trap and coolly lobbed the ball over the advancing 'keeper. Neither side troubled the scorers again.

Hamilton Panthers became early leaders of division two after a 4-2 home win over Ouseburn & Hammerton United.

Andrew Shepherd put them in front after half an hour and James Brown doubled the lead minutes into the second half but the visitors refused to give in and it took further goals from James Toase and Dave Kettlewell, the ex-South Bank striker, to seal the points.

Poppleton found themselves trailing throughout their home game with Huby.

Dan Grainger opened Huby's account with James Barratt equalising. Grainger restored Huby's lead only for Barratt to level matters again. John Durrant put Huby in front for the third time only to see Paul Ness earn a point for Poppleton ten minutes from time.

Two first half goals from Nick Rank and Sean Caffrey won the derby for Stamford Bridge at Barmby Moor although Phil Harper managed to pull a goal back for Barmby 15 minutes from time.

Elvington Harriers surrendered a two-goal lead earned with goals from Tom Hovington and Luke Dove to draw 2-2 with White Horse, while two goals in the last ten minutes from Paul Clark and Andy Gray gave Heslington a 2-0 win against Stillington.

Wilberfoss won 5-2 at Sheriff Hutton to set the early pace in division three.

All their goals came in the first half from Rob Walker, Rich Ramshaw, Shaun Hodgson, Jon Parkin and Rich Tinson as they completely dominated.

Sheriff Hutton steadied the ship after half-time and managed replies from Dan Lazenby and Simon Roy.

Marton-cum-Grafton recorded a fine 2-0 home win over Strensall with goals by John Watson and John Brear but the game was soured by an injury to Strensall's Tony Mason late on.

Hemingbrough are still looking for their first win after going down 3-1 at home to Wheldrake.

Steve Rawlinson bagged two for Wheldrake and Nick Willis claimed the third. Joe Ratcliffe netted for Hemingbrough.

The young Railway Institute side were helped to their first win in the League by a first half own goal from Norton United.

Roy Heslewood equalised before half-time and bagged his second after the break.

But two goals apiece from Rob Scarisbrick and Stewart Hartley gave RI the win.

Heworth, however, remain pointless after losing 2-1 at home to Rawcliffe Rangers.

Goals from Matt Fearn and Ian Robinson did the damage with Dave Slater netting the Heworth comnsolation.
