A SPONSORED toy hunt at Acomb Primary School raised hundreds of pounds for new school equipment.
The Lord Mayor of York, Coun David Horton, helped children hunt for toys at the event held yesterday morning.
Six toys were hidden around the school by foundation stage teacher Ann Quinn, which the children searched for and then handed to Coun Horton.
Ann said: "The children were very excited and thrilled to have the Lord Mayor there." The money raised will be used to buy outside equipment for foundation stage children, who are aged five and under. The equipment will be used to help the children develop their co-operation skills.
