A BRILLIANT individual try from Matthew Smith earned the points for Selby as they beat Pontefract 17-13 in Yorkshire One.
Smith went over in the 51st minute to make it 15-13 and the conversion by Adamson, who had taken over the kicking duties from Pemberton, was the last score of the match.
Pontefract had twice gone ahead in the first half with Selby twice levelling to make it 10-10 at the break.
Firstly, Williamson's fifth-minute penalty was equalised by Pemberton's penalty after seven minutes.
Then a 24th-minute touchdown by Williams plus conversion by Williams was matched by a try from Selby's Jason Cicero plus conversion by Pemberton after 35 minutes.
Selby could have gone ahead in the seven minutes of first-half injury time but Pemberton missed two penalties, the first an easy goal from in front of the sticks.
A penalty by Williamson six minutes into the second half put Pontefract ahead before Smith's brilliance turned it round and the scores stayed that way as Pemberton missed a 68th-minute penalty.
