UNLUCKY Seth Johnson is facing an extended spell on the injured list after yet another setback in his bid for fitness.

The £7million former Derby midfielder has had a knee operation to remove some cartilage, but further damage was discovered and he is expected to be out for a further month.

Johnson's only first team appearance so far this season was as a substitute in the opening day win over Manchester City. He has suffered a frustrating series of injuries since his move from Derby a year ago and has made only 14 appearances.

"It's about time my luck changed for the better," he said.

"It's been stop-start since I came to Leeds. I just want a long injury-free spell so I can show the fans what I can do. That hasn't been possible so far and it is very disappointing."

Johnson's extended absence is the latest blow for manager Terry Venables who learned last week that Robbie Fowler won't fully recover from his hip injury in time to face the striker's former club Liverpool at Elland Road on Saturday.
