COMEDIAN Peter Kay has announced three new York Barbican shows, making him the longest-running visiting attraction in the venue's history.

Earlier this month, the Bolton funnyman sold out a show at the Barbican in only six hours - the fastest-selling gig since Robbie Williams in 1998.

He also played a sold-out show at York's Grand Opera House in September.

Today, the Phoenix Nights star announced three more Barbican dates for March 6, 7 and 8 next year.

The ticket prices have leapt by more than £4 for the first date and more than £6 for the following two, compared with his last Barbican date.

The year has been incredibly successful for Peter Kay, with his My Mum Wants A Bungalow show becoming the biggest comedy tour of the year.

The first set of dates on the tour sold out in a week, with 120,000 tickets being snapped up in total.

He said: "I am going on tour to buy my mum a bungalow, but she'll be wanting the whole road if it goes on like this."

Tickets for the March 6 show cost £19.50, with the other two dates costing £21.50. They go on sale at 10am on Monday. To book, phone the Barbican's box office on 01904 656688 or the tour hotline on 0870 011 2626.
