CHAMPIONS Dunnington collected a barrow-load of silverware at last night's Hunters the Estate Agent York and District Senior Cricket League presentation dinner at York Racecourse.

The treble winners also won a host of individual prizes from guest speaker Fred Trueman, the Yorkshire and England legend, to confirm their status as the league's outstanding side.

As premier division champions they won the Thirsk and District Trophy as well as the York Premier KO Cup and the President's Trophy for winning the Champions Challenge.

That success in triplicate was based on a series of outstanding individual performances which saw former West Indian Test star Collis King win the premier division batting prize, while Paul Miles shared the Brian Shirley Trophy for the highest number of wicketkeeping victims with Acomb's David Sykes.

The Lol Morse Trophy for the best representative player went to Dunnington's Harwood Williams, while club-mate Steve Precious won the Reed Memorial Trophy for being man of the match in the Premier League Cup final against Easingwold.

For good measure Dunnington were also named the premier division's most sporting club, based on marks by umpires.

All three sportsmanship awards went to clubs who had not won the category before with Crayke winning the first division award and newcomers Studley Royal taking the honours in the second division.

But Dunnington didn't quite have it all their own way, with Acomb, who finished as premier division runners-up, making their mark with David Sykes winning the premier division's bowling prize and Shanuka Dissanayake sharing the Tony Frith Trophy for being the best overseas player with Woodhouse Grange's Kashif Rraza.

Acomb also won the Indoor League first division title, while Driffield was named the best ground, with the wicket at Kings Mill Road also regarded as having the best square and outfield.

The dinner was attended by a record 537 people, including a party from Hemingbrough, who will join the league next summer.

Wayne Dawson of Malton & Old Malton won the final monthly bowling prize for his 10-39 against Bolton Percy in division five. It was the first all-ten performance in the league for 11 years

Hafiz Khalid (Bridlington), holds the record for the fastest first class 50 in Pakistan - he did it on 12 balls - grabbed the batting prize for his unbeaten 179 against Malton and Old Malton in division two. It was the highest score of the season.
